50th Birthday Party at the Ames Hotel!

Happy 50th Charlie!  What a party at the  swanky Ames Hotel in Boston.   It's the perfect setting for an intimate, chic party.  The second floor bar feels like you are in a sheek and stylish, upscale living room.  They have big dark leather chairs, an eclectic mix of furniture that works and a cozy fireplace.

We transformed the space into a dark, masculine retreat with  sat chocolate brown draping and amber uplighting to accetn the windows.   To complement their family style service, we brought in a fruitwood farm-style dinner table with matching benches.   Lotus Designs helped create our vision with suculents and fiddle heads.

The honored guest of the party is a Delta pilot so we made that our theme and flew with it!  All of the invitations and menu cards resembled plane tickets.  The doorway was framed with two arrangements filled with branches and hanging votives and airplanes.  Check out the Reese's peanut butter cake from Cakes to Remember - really fun.

A special thanks to Person & Killian for their fabulous photography work as always!  Also a big thank you to Lotus Designs, Cakes to Remember, Be Our Guest, Party By Design for your work on this event.

Check out Tasha in The Knot Planning Secrets

Check out the newest issue of The Knot Weddings!  We love the swanky venues they featured - including the chic Ames Hotel which Tasha loves.

The trend of hosting fun, intimate parties at boutique hotels is on the rise.  They offer a space that feels more like your living or dining room, an alternative to the standard ballroom or boardroom.  The best part is you can walk up stairs to your room after the party.  What more could you want?

Client Appreciation: It is the number one priority

Just got this wonderful note from a mom we worked with for her daughter's Bat Mitzvah in January of 2009.
Brings back memories of the amazing event at the fabulous Four Seasons.  The hotel was stellar and it was such a pleasure to work with Winston, Party By Design and Be Our Guest on the decor and the amazing photos from Brian Phillips!

Just another reason we love what we do.

How exciting! Thanks for letting me know - can't wait to see it.

Just last week I was hanging out with a bunch of moms who all have bar/bat mitzvahs coming up. One of them started raving about Emily's celebration - how magical it was, how much fun both the kids and adults had, how gorgeous and transformed the space was, that it was everything you could ever dream of without being ostentatious - and that is exactly what I had hoped for! And I have you and your team to thank for making this dream of mine come true. I don't know how you were able to translate my vague ideas and overcome my weak organizational skills to create that amazing experience for us, but you really did. Thanks so much for everything!

Don't forget about the flower girls!

We're loving the fashions from the Golden Globes - our prediction is lots of emerald green at weddings in 2011-2012 !  The gowns of the GG obviously influence wedding fashion and not just the bride's gown. The flower girl will also get attention and while it isn't first on your check list, it is still a detail that can't be forgotten!

There are gorgeous dresses from the new 2011 collection from Katina Katoo that are truly inspiring.  All the dresses are made to order and the color combinations are perfect for any wedding color palate.  Most of the dresses come with sashes and flowers so you can customize your wedding even more by choosing your dress and sash color.  The dresses truly do not compare to any of the frilly dresses you find in your typical department store.

Katina Katoo offers all styles of dresses from a straight A line silk dupioni dress to a ballerina style taffeta and tulle dress.  Whether your flower girl is 3 years old or 13, there are sizes and styles for the fashionista who will be your flower girl.

TRENDSPOTTER: When are evites appropriate

Ok, snow storm is over now everyone is back to work!  Maybe now you are ready to ditch the hybernation and host a fabulous winter party!
We have seen a huge upswing in the use of electronic invites, though the traditional invitation is necessary for larger more formal events.  There are so many options now and you can even create your ow whether it's a girls get together, Superbowl or Winter is Almost Over party - whatever excuse you can find to have a party.  As long as guests have email, it can be fun, classy and simple.
All of the different sites offer different features.  Some are free, some have limits on the amount of invitations you can send out, and some show the invitation in the email where others you need to click on a link.  Most also offer an option for RSVP which can help organize your attendee list.  Whatever kind of service you are looking for, it's out there!  Here are some of our favorites.

Bottomline, hard copy invite should still be used, but don't be afraid to to explore online evites for fun, informal parties!

Sneak Peak! Bloomingdale's Registry

We hope 2011 is off to a great start for everyone!  We're busy planning winter events and other fun projects - updates to follow (wait tell you see the office redesign we are doing)!

We are lucky to have the opportunity to design and decorate the two tables in the Bloomingdale's Registry at Chestnut Hill.  The tables showcase Blolomingdales product and give couple ideas for designing their table and home.  Picking out housewares that you are going to use for the next10-15 years can be somewhat overwhelming, but the staff at the Registry is amazing to work with and really simplifies the process.

We chose two completely different designs for the tables. One design features glitzy black and silver and is more appropriate for a Saturday night dinner party (think champagne and chocolate).  The other table has different shades of green and is more French Country/Sunday brunch inspired.

We are so lucky to be working with John LaRoche of BlueGuava on the flowers - we can't wait to see them!!
