TRENDSPOTTER - Wedding Trends Forecast for 2010

Brides - look no further, because SD Events has your 2010 Wedding Trends forecast right here! Every Tuesday SD Events is going to announce an upcoming trend for the 2010 Wedding Season.

This Tuesday our focus is the Bride's attire. Every bride wants to stand out and be on the cutting edge of fashion for their special day. Our Style Gurus at SD Events predict that this season we are going to see a lot of shorter than floor length gowns. Whether the dresses be slim-fitting structured satin or flowy ballgowns lined with tulle, you will be sure to see a lot of hemlines above the floor so the bride's perfectly manicured toes can peek through their Louboutin peep-toes.

However, if this style doesn't quite suit your tastes, another trend emerging for this season is full ball gowns with bursts of detail, contrasting with a simpler bodice. As one could say, these gowns are a party at the bottom and business on the top. Whether the gown be adorned in feathers, beading, lace or ruffles - then paired with your pick of modified sweetheart necklines or sultry silhouettes, these dresses are sure to make a statement as the bride struts down the aisle.

Stay tuned for next Tuesday's edition of TRENDSPOTTER!

Collaboration and Inspiration

BEANTOWN BRIDE is the IT site for brides all over Boston. That is exactly why Tasha Bracken was delighted to guest blog for the site. Check out the article HERE!

The event planning industry is extremely reliant on collaboration with other industry professionals. This guest blog showcases some collaboration SD Events did with GENERATIONS cinemastories and Person + Killian Photography for a Style Me Pretty shoot,(another blog we swoon over,) proving that limits are endless when some of Boston's best wedding vendors collaborate in order to make their bride's dreams come true!

Youkilis Hits for Kids Team Runs Boston Marathon

Last Thursday we worked with Kevin Youkilis' Foundation, Hits for Kids to coordinate a Pre Marathon Fundraiser at La Verdad and it was a HIT! Youk's runners were there to support LoveLane and the Italian Home, two amazing groups, doing amazing work with kids.

La Verdad, a mexican restaurant located right across the street from the historic Fenway Park, was the perfect setting for the fundraiser. Throughout the event, guests enjoyed delicious mexican hors d'oeuvres and sipped on Boston's Harpoon Beer, while partcipating in both a silent and live auction with Michael Saperstein.

A big thanks to Rick Bern who captured the event and all the details. Greg Hill of WAAF was the emcee for the event while DJ Felix provided the festive music.

Without a doubt, the highlight of the night was when Lovelane and the Italian Home spoke about what they have been able to accomplish with the support of Youk's Kids. Another highlight was when the runners got up on stage! They were all amazing and did so much to support the charity. Congratulations to everyone involved!!

Following the Pre-Marathon Event, there was an event on Marathon Monday at a Private Residence on the marathon route - stay tuned, photos to follow!

Color and Location Inspiration

With summer rapidly approaching and in light of our new move to Newport, we wanted to post some hot pink beachy inspiration! Whether it's a hint of hot pink or an entire wedding splashed in hot pink, it's hard for guests to resist having fun - as pink sets the tone for a fun, flirty, fabulous affair.

If your wedding is set outside, provide your guests with hot pink umbrellas or fans to keep them out of the scorching sun!

How to Entertain with Style - not the Biggest Budget

Happy Wise Wednesday....with our thoughts on creative entertaining. Our own Tasha Bracken was recently quoted in a Boston Business Journal article titled, Entertaining on the Cheap Doesn't Need to be Shoddy.

This article has us thinking about our economic environment and how it is the perfect foundation for those businesses who can offer amazing services AND work with the smaller budgets forced upon clients. And this doesn't mean compromising the WOW factor. Maybe in the past clients had carte blanche to spend what they needed to create a signature event, but now they need to be frugal and fabulous. Combining creativity and collaborating with the right event professionals, there is less overhead and cost can be reduced. Enabling a bigger portion of funds to go to decor and other elements that produce spectacular events.

Although it seems the economy may be reviving slowly, smaller budgets are still in the horizon for the event industry. Companies, non-profits, and even brides want the most for their money while still achieving an unforgettable event. To reach this goal, a new formula for planning needs to be implemented. The approach is to envision, design and execute using resources that expand budgets while producing the same high-end event.

Thankfully, economies are cyclical - so the economy will turn around, but clients will always look to spend wisely rather than the kitchen sink approach. And why would you plan an event any other way?
