MaryHelen and Kurt Featured in Well Wed!

It's been a busy couple of weeks as we gear up for what is sure to be the wedding of the season!

We're taking a quick break to say how thrilled we are that one of our weddings will be featured in Well Wed magazine. The gorgeous, unique college sweetheart couple -- with a passion for dancing, the ocean, and eating -- had and unforgettable event at the Hyannisport Club.  The talented Andy Beet and Christine Ferullo of Bello Photography captured the event in style. What a completely fun and breath-taking wedding! Shama Klee did an amazing job on the flowers - we LOVE working with her.

Check out the Fall/Winter 2010 issue of Well Wed and get inspired!

TRENDSPOTTER: Light Up Your Wedding

Uplighting is the art of painting with light to create a truly magical background for the most beautiful and well-planned days of your lives together as a couple.

Lighting brings your wedding, dresses, flowers, and emotions to life and creates an inviting entertaining space. Whether over-the top and shockingly glamourous or just simple mood-setting lighting, this important feature of the wedding is not to be overlooked.

The secret lies in the type of lighting, where it is placed, and how it is used to enhance the already gorgeous aspects of your wedding. To transform the energy of the room during the night, one can use intelligent lighting - a customized assortment of lights that oscillate throughout the night. One can use an "exciting" palette of reds, oranges and bright golds to energize the guests throughout the evening, or a serene "in-between-courses" palette of blue and plum shades that soothe and calm the guests and encourage conversation.

Flattering Hues
Flattering honey and amber tones allow you can your guests to look their best. Warm colors highlight decor beautifully. Shades of pink are also complimentary and can be used to undertone
and create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.

Pinspotting
To accentuate centerpieces and food displays one may use a technique called pinspotting to tightly focus light and make decorative touches shine. A "Gobo" light can be employed to wash the walls with a favorite poem, inspirational writing, or a pretty pattern.

One rule to always follow: the powder room should be enhanced with pink lights. Every woman - especially the bride - should feel her best.

Lighting can turn a boring room with plain walls into a unique and colorful venue. It can make a room completely colorful and if coordinated well in advance, color schemes can bring out the colors of your party.

The Spotlight is on SD Events

Lately, we LOVE using the new myKATE PARKER WEDDING website to showcase our work. As a vendor we are able to upload feature weddings and videos and link our blog, facebook, and twitter accounts to our page. We recently met with myKPW to get some fresh ideas about how we can utilize the vast array of tools they offer for vendors. For example, myKPW has an impressive inspiration board tool that allows us to compile pictures and categorize them according to the color, style, season, and budget of the wedding. This makes it effortless for brides to search for a inspiration board that matches their particular vision and style.

While we were very focused on getting to know myKPW site better, myKPW decided they were intrigued by our work and wrote a vendor spotlight about Tasha Bracken, founder and owner of SD Events. Check out the article and tell your clients about this great resource!

TRENDSPOTTER: Wedding Cakes

Buttercream frosting, red velvet and decadent chocolate - oh my! I wanted to get everyone dreaming of sweets for this weeks 2010 Weddings Trendspotter, so why not talk about wedding cakes! Last year, couples were opting for the trendy cupcake tower instead of the classic tiered wedding cake. Gorgeous cupcake stands displayed wedding themed cupcakes of all flavors. Sometimes a small wedding cake stood on top and voila - brides and grooms across the country had themselves their very own cake beautifully built of dainty cupcakes.

Well as they say - out with the old and in the with new, or in this case, the traditional! In 2010 we will see the traditional white wedding cake make a comeback. Three tiered cakes covered in butter cream frosting or white fondant will satisfy the palettes of wedding guests across the country. Make a bold statement and keep your wedding cake black and white - or maintain a romantic vibe by accenting the cake with flowers. Although this years cakes will be traditional, this does not mean they will lack style - create an awe-inspiring wedding cake stand with your planner that incorporates your decor.
