Beach Weddings

Today is the official start of summer, so we thought we would kick-off the season with some ideas for beach weddings! Who doesn't love the beach, and who doesn't love a good wedding?  Together they are the perfect combo.  However, it does require a lot of planning, so you'll need creativity, patience and organization.

First step is to determine where you want to hold the wedding. Many beaches will require a permit and will have their own set of rules and guidelines, so make sure you compare and do your research early.  Here are a few questions which will help you prepare and become more informed.

Are chairs allowed on the beach?
Is there a limit on the number of guests that can attend?
Are there certain times ceremonies/receptions can be held?
If you are looking to host the reception on the beach, can you install a tent?
What is the back-up plan if inclement weather?  Do they have an indoor space?
Where do guests park?  Is there a fee?

Once you have the basic information,  you can start your guest list make a decision about the location based on your needs.  Keep in mind, while you want the perfect location, you want to be sure guests will be comfortable.  Be sure to provide flips flops and a basket filled with sunscreen, bug spray, caps, and other items to ensure your guests are comfortable.  Offer water or other beverages as guest arrive to keep them cool.  If it is unseasonably cool, provide cover-ups and a hot cider drink.  Most importantly, be sure guests know they are attending a beach wedding.  This will help them plan accordingly.

Here's to a fabulous summer with lots of outdoor events!
